Idaho: Concealed Carry Expansion and Youth Hunting Laws Effective Today

Today, July 1, two NRA-backed bills that were passed in the Idaho Legislature and signed into law by Governor Butch Otter (R) during the 2014 legislative session will take effect.  The NRA believes it is important that all citizens in Idaho understand the basic legal parameters of each of these new laws.  We encourage all individuals who wish to take advantage of the expansion of those laws to read the following descriptions.

Michigan: Youth Firearm Education Bill Takes Effect Today

As previously reported, yesterday, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (R) signed into law a bill that expands firearms safety training opportunities for Michigan youth. House Bill 5085, which took immediate effect as Public Act 201 of 2014, corrects an unduly burdensome restraint on youth firearm education by reasonably expanding the class of individuals who are allowed to supervise and instruct Michigan’s youth in the safe use of pistols.

Michigan: Firearms Records Confidentiality Package Passes Both Chambers, Youth Firearm Education Bill Still Awaiting Senate Action

Today, the final three bills included in the Firearms Records Confidentiality Package, Senate Bills 49, 834 and 881, passed in the Michigan House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support.  These bills will now be returned to the state Senate for a recommendation of immediate effect.

Michigan: Senate Committee Passes Youth Firearm Education Bill

Today, an important youth firearm education bill passed unanimously in the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee.  House Bill 5085 now goes to the Senate floor for consideration.  Introduced by state Representative Phil Potvin (R-102), HB 5085 corrects an unduly burdensome restraint on youth firearm education by reasonably expanding the class of individuals who are allowed to supervise and instruct Michigan youth on the safe use of pistols.
