Fight to Stop SB53, the Ammunition Sales Purchase Permits and Registration bill, Heats Up in Sacramento

The war over SB 53 is heating up in Sacramento and now anti-gun advocates are attempting to split gun owners by trying to buy the support of hunters.  The newest amended version of SB 53 will continue to BAN the mail and internet sales of ammunition to firearms owners in California, unless you have a hunting license.  Supporters of SB 53 think that they can pretend to be “pro- hunting” while they are still violating the rights of firearms owners statewide.

Texas House Committee to Consider Ban on Private Firearms Sales at Gun Shows this Week

This Thursday, April 11, the Texas House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety will hold a public hearing on House Bill 3143 by state Representative Raphael Anchia (D-Dallas).  HB 3143 would criminalize private firearms sales at gun shows and require them to be conducted through federal firearm licensed dealers (FFLs).  This bill lays the groundwork for FFLs to be able to charge a tax for processing those transfers and imposes vague “recordkeeping” requirements on the seller of the gun.

Delaware Update: Hearing Time Rescheduled for Bill to Criminalize Private Sales

In January, Governor Jack Markell (D) unleashed a five-point plan to subject Delaware to sweeping gun control measures, as reported by NRA-ILA.  Last week, the latest of his measures was filed as House Bill 35.  HB 35 has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee that scheduled a hearing for it this Wednesday, March 13 at 12:30 pm in the House Majority Hearing Room in Legislative Hall and public comment will be accepted.

Rainier Arms, a gun dealer in Auburn, Wash., receives great Yelp reviews for its responsiveness. But a call to the dealer on Friday led to a full voice mail box, and an e mail to its sales team drew this automatic response: “Thank you for contacting Rainier Arms for your AR 15 needs. Due to an overwhelming response to the latest political climate, we are experiencing longer than normal response times.”
