Oregon: Informational Hearing Scheduled to Discuss Lead Ammunition Survey on Tuesday

Earlier this summer, your NRA-ILA reported on the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s plan to survey hunters on the use of lead ammunition.  Earlier this week, the Oregon House Interim Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources posted its agenda for Tuesday, September 16, including a portion dedicated to discussion on the Lead Ammunition Survey.

Oregon: Gun control debate likely to intensify

Opponents of additional gun restrictions have bottled up bills calling for stricter criminal background checks for gun purchasers. Attempts to find middle ground by focusing on keeping firearms out of the hands of those with mental illness have foundered.House Judiciary Chairman Jeff Barker, D-Aloha, and a critic of gun control, agreed that Tuesday’s shootings would put additional pressure on legislators to deal with the issue.

Oregon: UPDATE on Efforts to Ban Lead Ammunition for Hunting

As previously reported, the Oregonian newspaper recently published a series of articles about California condors and the use of lead ammunition for hunting.  Now, Oregon State University has published an article detailing an upcoming collaboration between OSU and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) on an effort to survey Oregon hunters about their use and knowledge of lead ammunition.

Oregon: Contact Your State Senator in Opposition to Bill that Targets Law-Abiding Gun Owners

Your immediate action is needed!  The state Senate could vote soon on Senate Bill 700, harmful legislation that will only penalize law-abiding gun owners.  SB 700 seeks to criminalize otherwise lawful private firearm transfers done without a background check, imposes burdensome requirements for compliance and carries steep penalties for any misstep or violation in the process.  This legislation could be voted on at any time and it’s critical that it be stopped!  Contact your state Senator now and urge his or her opposition to Senate Bill 700.
