Today, Governor Dave Heineman (R) signed Legislative Bill 390 into law. LB 390 passed unanimously in the Nebraska Legislature during its Final Reading on April 17, in the last hour of the 2014 legislative session.
Yesterday, in the final hour of its 2014 legislative session, the Nebraska Legislature unanimously passed critical emergency powers legislation in its Final Reading. Legislative Bill 390, introduced by state Senator Mark Christensen (44), now goes to Governor Dave Heineman (R) for his expected signature.
Today, House Bill 1467, important “Emergency Powers” protection legislation was unanimously approved by the state Senate Government and Veteran Affairs Committee and will soon be considered on the Senate floor. This NRA-backed bill, introduced by state Representative Karen Karls (R-35), passed in the House by a 76-17 vote on February 25.
Today, NRA-supported House Bill 2471, sponsored by House Speaker Rick Thompson (D-19), was reported with a substitute by the House Judiciary Committee by a unanimous voice vote. HB 2471 seeks to prohibit the restriction of the lawful possession, use, carrying, transfer, transportation, storage or display of a firearm or ammunition during a declared state of emergency. An amendment strengthening HB 2471 was adopted in committee by a voice vote, and would provide the same protection during a federal state of emergency.
