Florida Gov. Rick Scott does not have the power to remove Palm Beach County commissioners from office for trying to preempt a state gun law that took effect in 2011, a Leon County circuit judge has ruled.Circuit Judge John C. Cooper, in an order released Thursday, ruled that provisions in the law allowing the governor to remove county commissioners from office are “unconstitutional” and “a violation of the doctrine of separation of powers.’’

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on February 13 to discuss a proposed pro-gun amendment to Chapter 684 of the county’s Codified Ordinances, Weapons and Explosives, which regulates the lawful use and discharge of firearms within the unincorporated areas of Loudoun County.

Unfortunately, members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisor’s City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee do not seem to understand that it is not law-abiding gun owners who are the cause of violent crime.   They apparently believe that if they impose further restrictions on current legally owned products then they will reduce violent crime where current gun control laws have utterly failed.  Criminals do not respect current gun laws, so why should anyone expect criminals to obey new gun laws?

On Thursday, January 17, over two hundred concerned citizens packed into the Weston Middle School cafeteria to voice their opinions on the Town of Weston’s proposed gun ban ordinance.  After a lengthy discussion on constitutional and legal concerns, the Board of Selectmen concluded that it would be best to postpone any immediate action to restrict firearms and defer to the state and federal level for action.
