Wintersong: A Celebration of the Season

The Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble, under the direction of Deborah Teske, presents Wintersong: A Celebration of the Season. Combining music and spoken word in the splendor of Shove Chapel by candlelight, this award-winning event has become a cherished holiday tradition.
This year’s program, an eclectic mix of old and new, features English composer Roderick Williams’ O Adonai, et dux domus Israel. This stunning work is an a cappella tour-de-force, in which members of the ensemble will sing from the far corners of the Chapel, portraying a chorus of angels on high answering the earth-bound voices of the people. Other works include Gustav Holst’s Ave Maria for 8-part women’s chorus, sacred motets by Renaissance masters Victoria and Handl, and traditional and contemporary settings of seasonal favorites.

Cowbells will be ringing at this Wassail Dance Party (wassail: “a festivity or revel with drinking of healths”–oh yeah!), & to top off the revelry, everyone will kiss @ midnight
